EJ Johnson, Ph.D.
EJ believes that every leader has a background, education and set of life experiences that make them unique. The key to Leadership Development is to identify and grow areas critical to success while not compromising the authentic, special qualities that have made clients successful. As a coach, my first job is to help my client clarify his or her goals. Then I work with them to develop themselves in a way that will accelerate their goal attainment – all while maintaining their authenticity and individuality. The UL approach to Executive Coaching is also based on the belief that leaders already have many of the tools they need to develop themselves; so, in addition to focusing on new tools and competencies, we are also always looking to uncover hidden or underused capabilities. In short, UL Executive Coaching is about putting the right focus on the right issues that will unlock the client’s true potential.
My Background
EJ is a Sherpa trained Executive Coach that has advised senior leaders for over twenty years in Fortune 500 companies like Chase, Unisys, IMS Health and AmerisourceBergen. EJ was also an Associate Professor of Leadership at the Jack Welch Management Institute, an Associate Professor at Ursinus College, and has a strong background in Diversity, Inclusion & Equity. EJ has a BS in Psychology from The College of New Jersey, a MS in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in Organization Management & Leadership from Capella University. EJ makes his home in the Philadelphia, PA area with his wife Jennifer, daughter Alex, son Max and their dog Stoessel. EJ and his family enjoy skiing, boating, deep-sea fishing, snorkeling, horseback riding and golf. EJ is also actively engaged in youth sports and coached numerous recreational and travel softball and baseball teams. EJ is currently writing a book for leaders on how to manage the current political and cultural divide in the workplace.
